Working together We
need more representatives who show an attachment to the entire
state. Over the years, I have run perhaps 5,000 miles on
every back road I could find in the state. I've also brought
my camera with me (link
to my photography website). I am also a
student of Rhode Island and Providence history. As a result, I
have a
unique perspective on Rhode Island and its people, and I
truly look forward to working with and forming bonds with representatives
from the rest of the state. In
public education, more than anywhere
else, Providence needs assistance from its fellow cities and towns.
The
economy We
have trouble on the horizon with the loss of banking, manufacturing,
and healthcare back-office jobs. We need
to make sacrifices in order to balance the budget and keep taxes
down. This will make Rhode Island an attractive place for established
and new business. Property
taxes in
the East Side are already among the highest in the nation, and the
people in my district are already severely strained (click here).
Putting off spending on infrastructure or paying for the current
budget with
future income isn't a responsible option.
Canadian pharmaceutical
drugs I support the efforts of my
colleague Dr. Nicholas Tsiongas getting Rhode
Islanders
cheaper
pharmaceutical drugs by buying them from Canadian
pharmacies.
Abortion I
am committed to protecting a woman's access to a medically safe
abortion.
Same sex marriage
I support same-sex marriage.
