Growing up I grew up in Harrison, New York, in Westchester
County, about 35
minutes from New York City. After graduating from Harrison
High School in 1982, I went to Princeton
University where I majored
in molecular biology (BA 1986).
In 1990 I finished my MD studies at the University
of Rochester School of
Medicine and came to Providence to train in internal medicine
at the Miriam Hospital/Brown Medical School.
Professional experience I have been a
practicing general internist in Rhode
Island since 1995. In 1998 I started my own
medical practice within
a large obstetrics and gynecology group. I share on-call responsibilities
with three other internists. I have been
a member of Rhode Island Primary Care Physicians
("RIPCPC") since 1996 and have served on several
committees, including quality review and the "HIPAA" committee.
Since 2002 I have served on the Internal
Medicine/Family Practice Specialty Advisory Committee at Blue Cross.
I have
been a member of the Rhode Island Medical
Society for several years.
This year will be my second year on the Public Laws committee.
I participated in Governor Almond's Governor's
Advisory Committee on
Healthcare ("GACH"), chaired by Christy Ferguson from
approximately 1999 till 2002. Since 2000, I have also been the
physician advisor for Homefront Healthcare, a large statewide home
care agency.
I am a Clinical Assistant Professor
of Medicine at Brown Medical School. I am also
on staff at Kent Hospital in Warwick. I am board
certified in internal medicine, and
I attend weekly medical conferences at the Miriam Hospital and Rhode
Island Hospital.
